Started on my 4 foot sump today not really a true diy as I had the tank built by my local guy. 30 pounds (under $60) so can't complain too much.

up to me to place the dividers and cut the glass to suit.

the glass is tacked in position to check sizes. the pane on the left is to be cut down to about 9.5 inch.

Yes my young Jedi, Duct tape is like the Force it has a light side, a dark side and it holds the universe together :naughty:

It's amazing the uses you find for the junk the local kids leave in your garden.
:eek::ROFL:

Obviouslyfood safe so should be fish safe, gave it a good scrub in boiling water and used a gas burner to soften it a bit for reshaping.

They must not have egg crate in Scotland....LOL

Nice looking job by the way...that beast should have a great bio-capacity once your finished with it.

Egg crate is not free :D this basket he found was :) Well foudn a new use anyway which made the original purchase price much more worth it :D

I was thinking of adding an additional plate to create a 'slack' area for plants, I've heard people say it's a great way to take nitrogens out of the water but I've also heard that it can be a problem with dumping crap into the system.

Has anyone used this set up and if so how did it work??

This started off in the DIY section and will be heading back there when it's all together.

The question is would it be an advantage to put oxygenating plants in a section of my new sump?
