So I am officially a discus owned now! I'm very excited on my new purchase but what's the down low on the discus the four I have are schooling but kind of hiding at the moment when do they usually become comfortable with the tank and start to swim around together?? And any other tips or info you guys have would be amazing.

So the discus are aclimating well they have came out of hiding and are schooling together well they ate a meal of bloodworm also. And i did my research guys incase you think this was an impulse buy and im new to the fish keeping hobby. I just want some feedback from the experts on the tips and tricks such as what plants grow nice and tall for the discus to hide in and what they love to eat and stuff like that. Any info would be helpfull just seeking advice from the masters

well what would you like to know? ask specific question and itll be easier on us.

my discus that just came in are still gettin use to their tanks. 5 juv and they havent move from their plants in 2 days so it can take them awhile. i feed mine sinkin shrimp pellets 5 times a day and do water changes every day 90%+

I def wouldn't doing that kind of water changes since discus are very susceptible to illness and stressing them out with that big of water changes is dangerous and ridiculous overkill.

If you are going to do daily water changes, 40% would be much better..... and I agree with brich999 -- 90% water changes will do more harm than help....

Congratulations on your new Discus! At some point (if you have the tank size), you may want to bump from 4 discus to 6+ discus. In my opinion, they will feel safer, spread aggression if any, and school better.

90% everyday would not be overkill depending on some situations. To arowana lover, your discus should be out and about already. And I would change 90% every 3 days since you're feeding shrimp pellets which is a poor source of food in my opinion……
