i just got a silver aro that is about 4'' no egg sack so i think its past that stage. it was the bigges one in the tank of baby arowanas. the other ones ranged from 2 to 3 inches and the one i got is 4''....... anyways.........

i wanted to add this guy to my main tank ASAP. for now he is devided in a 10 gallon, and has about 5 galloons to himself(half the tank) and eating great already.

so i want to know......... if i feed him WELL daily, how long will it take him to get to 8"?????

he is currently eating live black worms and brine shrimp... i ran out of krill so ill have to buy some soon.... so with a diet like this how long will it take him to get to 8"

thank you.

I am going to guess..................6 weeks to 8 weeks

ok cool thanks........ i might add him to the tank even at 7'' but 6 to 8 weeks sounds great.

he is eating live black worms like crazy and im amazed at it b/c he has only been in the tank for less than 24 hours.

thanks.

how big are the fish in ur main tank? you'd be surprised how well they do even tho they could be way smaller. i added my smaller aro at 9" with a 20+ aro and agression actually went the opposit way. smaller aro was punkin the bigger one. but you should see 3" within the next 2 months

Febuary 11th 2006 I got 2 of them. Mid june I decided to get rid of one, at that time one was 6.5 inches and the one I got rid of was 8 inches.

well i have a 15'' clown knife in my "main" tank that has eaten feeders bigger than the 4'' arowana so i don't think it will be a good idea to add him in there. i also have a 8'' arowana in that tank who is fine so im guessing the baby aro will be fine at 7 to 8 inches in the big tank.

he was eating like crazy today and i hope by me feeding him constantly he will grow faster.

hopefully in 6 weeks he will be 7"....???

thanks

ouch, how big is ur main tank? i almost dont recommend pairing aro's dude. everyone told me not to but i did anyway, now my 18incher is harassing my 2fter... which is why i have a 3rd one that im hoping to toss with them within the next year. hopefully my pair settles down because they've been together for almost a year now but jus recently showing agression towards eachother.

well i plan to get rid of the 8'' and only have this 4'' guy in the tank.

i know how agressive the 8''er is and he grows SLLLLOWWWWW for some readon so i want to get rid of him b/c he will get picked on in the future if he does not grow faster.( he also eats very small amounts of food)(unlike this new guy) so in the end i plan to have only one silver in the tank.

hopefully in 6 weeks this 4''er will be around 7''?? and i can sell my bigger aro by then.

oh crap bad news.......... he has ich. i see about 7 spots on him.

can i use Ich Cure to medicate it fast?? i can't get ich cure untill tomorrow though b/c i can't get a ride to my LFS today. he eats just as well and looks great but has the spots. if this goes untreated will he die??? the temperature is at 80F and i don't want to do that salt + high temperaturer way bacause it takes very long. ill use ich cure tomorrow. and il only use 1/2 the dosage because it says if its a silver fish of some kind its more fragile to the medication.

any advice????

thanks

I would do the salt and heat method. Ich cure can work faster, but it can also kill him. I wouldn't expect him to hit 7 inches in any shorter than 2 months, and in a 10 gallon he will be very cramped, and may begin to have stunting problems. How big is your big tank, and can you split that tank instead?
