how many inches will a two inch 4 stripe thin bar gold danoid grow per month if fed well? never owned a dat b4. thinking of growing one out a little 1st b4 i put it in my new world cichlid tank.

Dats grow slowly, maybe a 1/4" per month?

they live in freshwater

thinbars, ST, and indo tigers live exclusively in freshwater. silver and Ngt prefer a little brackish but i keep silvers in fresh with no probs. dats are very slow growing, cant tell you at what rate, maybe just a few millimetres per month.

I figured I would increase the sample size for these statistics:

1. I agree with ewurm...maybe 1/4" a month. My ITs grew from 7/8" to just over 2" in about 4 months...that works out to almost exactly 1/4" per month...just a tad over.

2. I keep all of my dats in freshwater, with minimal salt added as a preventative measure. I have ITs, ATs, NGTs, and NTTs...all in freshwater.

Make sure to find out what your lfs keeps them in because you really want to becareful with your acclimation method when you're dealing with adjusting specific gravity/salinity...that's why I always use a drip method.

my indo grew from .5" to about 3" in about 8 months lol

I have an indo for 2 months and I would say it has grown 0.25"
