I had this eel sold twice, both backed out of the deal, first it was to the biologist that just never did reply to my emails, etc and then I called a LFS and asked them if they were interested in my eel and they said yes and they would make room and to bring him the next day, so I did. I drove over an hour to deliver and then they tell me they didnt want it...they gave me $30 for gas thou so I got two big clown loaches, but I would have rather sold him. So now he is back and backup for sale.

Vides are here http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...40-quot-Electric-Eel-Cincinnati-Ohio-Area-p-u

I really dont want to do this but I'm going in a different direction. I have aquired some really nice South Americans lately and I have a 265 dedicated to this Electric Eel and I really want to put my SA's in that tank.

Selling for $200 FIRM. He eats like a horse, shrimp, tilapia, fillets of any sort, fingers too

Also, not sure why but at this time he is not producing a charge. In this video below you can it through the audio amplifier, you cant any longer. I'm sure it will come back but at this time you will not hear anything. I even hand feed this eel which should tell you something. I have yet to actually touch or grab the eel and I'm not brave enough to do it on an eel this large

Here is the thread below that I created about the issue:

I am also looking to trade for other fish such as a Scarlet Pleco, Azul, Kelberi, Tigrinus, Jurnese, Large Clown Loaches, South Americans, etc. or tell me what you have.

We can meet up at a LFS, you can come to my place or I can come to you depending on how far you are, no shipping at this time.

I will throw in the rubber gloves, a large fishing net and the audio amplifier you see in the video, I actually have two because I thought it was broke when it actually isnt.

Also, dont purchase this eel just because its "cool", etc. It can hurt you, badly. They create between 600-800 volts depending on the size of the eel but thats not what will actually kill you. This eel produces 1 amp, enough to lay you out or even kill you. Make sure you know what you are doing, have the eel in a secure location because they will jump out, he done it to me twice. He seems at home in a tall tank, in the 125 is where he jumped out so I had to use a reptile lid with clamps so he couldnt escape. I don't have one on the 265, I should but I dont yet. He hasnt jumped out but I never see him try to, I did in the 125. He needs to come up for air often, around every 7-10 minutes, depending on his activity. A few inches is all that is needed between the water line and the glass tops, lid, etc. If he cant get any oxygen he will go crazy, splashing water everywhere, possibly even injuring himself. Make sure you read up on them.

He is blind but he can still sense you and is VERY quick, he can stop, flip, swim backwards, turn on a DIME so dont underestimate this eel. When I feed him, I usually knock on the glass and he comes right to me and then I drop the food to him. You can just toss the food in, he will find it as you can see in the video.

Also, you can't use salt in his tank at all, it will de-polarize him and eventually kill him.

I'm in no rush to sell the eel, if he doesnt sell I will buy another tank for him but I figure I'd offer it to someone here first.

Good Luck. I have a 36incher that I was trying to sell for the longest time. Eventually, I traded him to Shark Aquarium for store credit. Theyre definetely a cool fish though.
