40 gal breeder?

Why is a 40 gal tank used as a breeder? IMO i would think a 20L would be better...

the 36x18 surface area is why.

lots of room for spawning fish. the 18" width is key.

its the surface area that makes the breeder tank more suitable

They were actually given the name for breeding reptiles but the posts above are correct surface area is king. A 40 breeder as MUCH more surface area than say a 65 gallon hex.

I love my 40 gallon breeder. The best tank I have running at the moment.
