My dads co-worker just gave me a 40 gallon breeder tank, and i have no idea what to put in it?! I'm open to any freshwater suggestions, but no saltwater!

I'd stock it with senegal and/or palmas bichirs, a spiny eel (either M. zebrinus or M. circumcinctus, although there are also a few others that would work), a few african brown knives, and 3-5 SD's.

you could start a breeding pair of something like a small to med. cichlid like Salvini or blue eyed cichlids
