hey i am new to the whole talking about your fish tank on line type of thing but i have a 125 gallon and a 40 gal, in the 40 gal i have my 5 discus 1 yellow checkerboard, 1 snakeskin, 1 cobalt blue, and 2 very young discus and you cant quite tell what they are gonna be quite yet. If a water change is done everyday could they still be happy in the 40 gallon? i already have a mating couple who seem quite satisfied with there surroundings. if you wanna see a pic just ask.
thx:chillpill:

the unwritten rule is 10 gal. per adult fish. you can probably get away with it with good filtration and big wc's, but I think it's a bit small for 5 adult fish. will there be any other fish in the tank? I have 8 in my 120 gal. and won't add anymore. even plants will take up swimming room. imo it's too small. and pics are always welcome.

I think it's a bit too small. If the fish reach their adult potential, even a 55 gallon would be cramped. I raise out groups of 6 in 55 gallons but once they hit adult size they really need a larger tank. I was doing 100% water changes every day or every other day and feeding about 3 - 5 times daily. My fish went from 2" to 6"+ in a year and then got upgraded to a 150 gallon tank.
