This is my 40 gallon tall planted aquarium. I dirted about an inch of substrate on the bottom and capped with about 3-1/2 inches of river rock. It is currently ran on a enclosed sump with dual 1inch PVC overflows, the pump pushes 560 gph. It has a DIY spray bar mounted under the lip of the aquarium that is submerged. It has aprox. 30-40 tiny holes that return water in every possible direction. It has a DIY co2 generator that pushes about 3-5 bubbles per second since I do have co2 gas off in my overflows. It currently houses. 1 golden nugget pleco, 2 otocinclus catfish, 1 Siamese alge eater, 5 cherry shrimp, 3 dwarf neon rainbow fish (praecox), 4 turquoise rainbow fish (lacustris), 4 Boesemani Rainbow (Melanotaenia boesemani). Plants include red ludwigia, amazon sword, wisteria, java fern. Let me know what you think!
