So I am not going to use my 100+ plus for these but.... I do have a 40 gallon I am going to set up for these and I think I will be good. Planted with a sand substrate also some driftwood and rocks. Almost like a natural substrate, tank starts cycling next week will keep updated.

Well that is the only thing I was uncertain about... I was thinking maybe 10-12 if they can live life in a 40 gallon otherwise I will have to shrink down the school.

I think 10 would work well, they'll get max 4 inches so that'll be fine

So building this tank I have a good idea of what these fish require for aqua scaping my question is would they require a power head for current? or would the filter be enough?

Thanks

i had 5 huge exodons (4 inchers) that i gave to my buddy and they are in a 75g that's well scaped and they actually use up the whole tank. that 40g would not be enough for 10 or 12 if you want them to be comfortable. just saying...

I mean they are best as schools.... but I mean 5 is enough I guess but even in a 75 you can get like 15 or 16

Well that's fine I have not kept them so I wasn't sure if they would be good in smaller groups... but I just want what will make them be a happy healthy fish. That's why I am asking soo much about tank setup. But thank you for the input.

no problem! honestly 8-10 would be on the lower side they like big schools but you'd need a bigger tank
