40 gallon prtoject

I have a project of starting a 40 gallon tank.For filtration i am going to use 2 aquaclear 500(110) filters.I am going to put my 7 inch buttikoferi which is in a 29 gallon for now.I should have it set up in a month or two.should i use sand for subtrate.also is there anything else u guys think i should get

Tilapia move the bottom around constantly. With sand the water was always cloudy. I used pea size to double pea size gravel. Problem is tilapia pick it up and spit it at the glass. They knock intake tubes out of HOBs too.

You have a great filtration for the tank, the only problem is that your tilapias will need more space, greetings
