So my 40 gallon has recently been torn down, in an effort to redo the tank. So I have a variety of things I can do with the tank, some more exciting then others. I was thinking:

1. Terrarium with 1 Crested or Gargoyle Gecko (mom likes the fact that they don't need crickets)
2. SA Planted Tank with Bolivian Rams, cardinal tetras, black neon tetras, Hatchetfish, and corydoras.
3. African Cichlid Tank (the most costly)
4. Brackish Tank with a dragon goby, bumblebee gobies, a knight goby, and a group of Sailfin Mollies.
5. A small group of Figure Eight Pufferfish
6. Livebearer Tank with Platies and Guppies
7. SE Asian Community with Red Tail Rasboras, Harlequin Rasboras, a group of Ghost Shrimp, and 1 Honey Gourami

i say plant it semi heavy and get like 6 siamese aglae eaters 1 snakeskin gourami and a school of 20 Harlequin Rasboras.......
or u could do somthing a little more aggressive and u could go with 10 Skunk loaches some kind of gourami and schooling fish.
or u could do 1 standerd fin angle fish pair with 8-10 corys and a school of leamon tetras.

i say scrap the gecko and get a argentinean black & white tegu their amazing lizards ive got one and shes the most coolest lizard ive got a fab black and white pattern a very butaful lizard

2. SA Planted Tank with Bolivian Rams, cardinal tetras, black neon tetras, Hatchetfish, and corydoras.

i choosed the crested gecko idea first..second for african cichlids..and third for other which isnt a choice..

4. just for the dragon goby but i know nothing about the rest of those fish haha

Sorry, but 1,3,4 and 5 have been crossed off the list, because I found some nice looking swordplants and cryptocoryne, and I'm going to put in the java fern from my paludarium (mounted to the rock that made the waterfall). Down to:

SA Community with Cardinals, black neons, corydoras, bolivian rams, and hatchetfish

Livebearer Tank with guppies and platies

SE Asian Community with red tailed rasbora, harlequin rasbora, ghost shrimp, and a honey gourami

Also, I do not want any more angelfish, because I have 7 of them already in my 180 gallon community (2 black lace angels, 3 Veilfin Koi angels, 1 wild scalare, and 1 golden angel. Also in the 180 are 6 Australian Rainbows, and a peacock eel). As for tegus, they get huge and I could definitely not get one plus they sleep all winter long.
