40 gallon tank NEW WHAT TO DO?!

Hey,

I'm picking up a 40 gallon breeder tomorrow evening.
I'm wondering if my fellow MFKers could help me by recommending what would work.

I'm thinking of a species tank.

I'm thinking of breeding Jewel Cichlids, Convicts, or....

Let me know your thoughts. Something that could stay in there for life.

I'm definitely leaning towards Jewels. What are some water parameters that have worked for people? What type of gravel?
