the Office living in the now...
I over feed my fish so I wanted to do a pretty good size water change. Two problems:

1. I was doing a water change @ 2 am after I got home from a party.

2. The water was freezing like 69 degrees F.

I feel asleep while doing my water change and when I woke up, My poor Geo's were simultanously swimming upside down!.!.!.!. I freaked out and luckily I scooped out all 10 and put them in the Quarantine tank with a warmer temp. Little by little they all snapped back. I was really scared for a moment though.

Lesson learned, Never do a super large water change in the winter again. Poor geo's almost died.

I've heard of fish going upside down and staying that way for the rest of their lives! Lesson learned for sure! How did the water got so cold?

Water was from the spigot from the garage and its freezing here in Ohio.

yikes! close one. You dont have a python ? I fill with water temp within 2 degree's of the tank. Only way to go.

I better buy one.

freezing water is not 69 degrees.

I think the lesson would be not changing your water after a night of partying at 2 in the morning:screwy:

You are correct my friend. Stupid mistake.

I lost a fish in 65 water, when I learned that the basment is much colder the the rest of the house :-), so I might have wanted bigger heaters.

I also agree about only adding mixed water, I don't have a python, but I do have both hot and cold water hooked up to a fill line. Been wanting to add a thermometer to the fill line, but thought that's just silly I can get it close by touch.

Kinda like back in the Bad old days I could get my bags weighed by touch :-)
