400 gallon pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are there any other types of fish? Because I want to find as many options as possible

The oscars are probably going to become tiger shovelnose food given the size difference. I don't recommend mixing them.

Are you asking for sites to buy fish from that aren't cichlids? Or other forums that don't feature cichlids? Or suggestions for your pond that aren't cichlids?

If it's other fish suggestions, what are you thinking? Catfish? Characin? Ancient(Arowana,Birchir; etc)? What traits are you looking for? Any predator regardless of shape etc? What kind of activity level would you like? Do you have to have the Oscars? Oscars while not generally aggressive when compared to other cichlids are boisterous eating machines and that is one of the things that affects what can be housed with them. Are you totally against cichlids because there are some larger than Oscar cichlids that can be relatively peaceful. One is a Predator such as Red Bay Snooks/Petenia Splendida or cichlids that are more herbivorous like Herichthys pearsei. I think we just need more info on what you want so we can give you informed responses, so we could help you.

Biggest fish I'd advise keeping in that pond, given the 180 cm length would be 30 cm to stay in line with the 6x the length rule from Practical Fishkeeping.
