I have a 400 gallon 8x4x20. aggressive tank,

stock:

2 silver arowanas 30"

black arow 24"

marble motoro 18"

3 indo dats9-10''

thin bar dat-11"

1 peacock 10"

royal clwn knife 19"

florida gar 22"

ornate bicher 17"

2 fire eels 30-34"

fei fieng

2 flower horns13-12"

2 severums 8".

Yesturday I came home to my royal clown knife and purple rose queen flowerhorn dead. My flower horn beat up but that could have happened after she died, clown knife looked in good shape.Test the water and do a water change and everything looks good. feed this morning and go to work. I come home and flower horn # 2 is dead. The two most aggressive and hardy fish dead???? test the water ammonia 0 nitrite 0 but my nitrate are high. I think someone is going on a killing spree. Possibly my ornate. It has been more active and picking on my eels? has anyone had any experience with certain fish turning into murder machines. any help appreciated.

My vote is for the gar. If it was your nitrates, I would have expected the motoro to go first.

Can I see pics of your Florida? I don't see them get over 20" in captivity often.

my murderer i think is my 13" CK i just found my baby 5" silver aro dead the other mornin

I doubt it is the Gar. I have a florida gar (not as big as yours) and in the eight months I have had him he hasn't shown any interest in any fish that he could not swallow. So if your fish are being beat up and killed I would think it is a different fish than the gar doing the killing. I could be wrong, but aside from Gators I have always read that Gars are quite gentle.
