Is this too much light? Thanks for all replies.

Are 400 watt metal halides on sale somewhere or something? In my opinion(which doesn't mean too much), that's not too much light at all.

our buddy has a couple of them for $100 a piece. Im thinking of giving one of them a try. Thanks for the info wyldf....

Right on then, Im all about it now. If it doesnt work out i can always sell/trade it to some ''closet'' horticulturists that I know.(get it?):naughty: :naughty:

400 watts is just fine. Like many have said, the kelvin rating is also important. I used to run 370 watts (all PCs), on a 72 gallon. Now I run 198w on a 54g and 96w PC (soon to upgrade to 150w HQI) on a 33 cube.

Will you be running Co2? If so, what method?

Hadnt planned on c02, but most likely yes. If so its gonna start off cheap. Prolly yeast/sugar/baking soda style.

Wouldn't most fish be spooked/washed out from all that light?? I used to grow with a MH400 and they are retarded bright. Wouldnt 2 175's be better? But you can only get 400's right?CFL's throw some major light too,and if you get a drop of water on the buld they won't impolde violently like a MH.And there WAAAAY cheaper.

Go pressurized. With that much light, you will need it.
