405 tip

i don't know if anyone has ever done this tell me what you guys think, i got my 405 back in august for my new 75gal. i set up the bottom two chambers with the include charcoal bags but they left so much space in between, i decide to cut them open and just fill the basket.well then i found out charcoal will get past the screens. fix i used the bags the charcoal came in and lined the inside of the bottom chamber and top of the one above it.worked like a charm ! today while doing my routine cleaning i decide to use my old foam cut to size even easier
well what do you guys think?

If that works well, go for it.

But I have an easier fix, chuck the carbon and run all bio-media.....

speaking of bio media i have the "mini pipes" that came with my fluval how long do they last the product guide say 6 months but i thought bio media lasts forever

Fluval canisters come with Biomax bio media. They should last a long time if you have good mechanical filtration. Just rinse them once in a while in aquarium water.
