So my 40b is setup and Here's my stock:

- pair of rainbow cichlids
- pair of autroloheros oblongum
- 4 laetacara araguaiae (don't know the sex but I'll probably get a pair)
- 3 bristlenose plecos

Can I still add some tetras? It's gonna be planted with some driftwood. Filtration is a magnum canister, ac110 and a medium sized sponge filter.

With your filtration you could really overstock. LOL The rainbows tend to be pretty mild mannered. Not sure about the oblongum as I have never had them. The laetacaras will be beautiful. However, I think 3 breeding pairs will be really tight as even peaceful cichlids get defensively aggressive when breeding. Each pair will take about half the space on the bottom and even if they took a little less than half, it would still not be enough space for a third pair to comfortably breed as well. Plus you would still have 2 unpaired laetacaras on the bottom with 6 breeding cichlids. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. I would rehome either the rainbow pair or the oblongum pair to their own 20 and your aggression levels should never get bad.

Tetras would be okay to add to the tank even if you don't rehome anyone. All your fish currently inhabit the bottom layer, so a school of 8-10 small top dwelling tetras wouldn't even be noticed by your filtration systems. Personally I like the rummy nose tetras for a small tetra, but cardinals or neons would work too. If you want something with a deeper body, bleeding hearts or lemons are my two favorites.

Oblongum need either cooler water or a cool down period, I cant recall which one off the top of my head but I know its the reason why I haven't kept them.
