Canada, eh.
Hey Guys,

I'm about to embark on the design and build of a stand for a 40g breeder. The thing is, I want to go as simplistic as possible (not the concrete block method). I want it to be as sturdy as possible for the least amount of associated design/build time.

Any suggestions, or pics of your similar setups to help me out here?

If you want simple, get a large piece of wood block that's about 2 inches larger than the tank like a 30 by 10 inch tank would have a 34 by 14 inch block of wood. It will probably weight alot, though.

Thanks for the tips guys. I had some 4x4 kicking around so decided to put something together with that. The only thing i'm worried about right now is that I used 1 1/2" screws for the brackets. Should I have used more?

I posted a few pics, but have still got some cleaning up to do. What do you think so far, critique away!

Another question, should I be worried about the 4x4's being pressure treated (ie leaching toxins into my tank thru the air?)

Dont be too paraniod about that.. chances are your house is already built of the stuff. The chemicals are metal salts, and they are chosen because they dont leach out of the wood. If you are worried, give it a coat of paint.

Stand whould be fine, if you want it REALLY strong, clad the back and sides with ply as well. No way it will move then.

Cheers
