Hi guys,

I live in Mexico city, recently i have a fever for P's, like in the past have many of them (16 years ago).
I do alot or research about newest info about P's set up.
So, the questions are:

Which substrate i need to put on it?
Which kind of filtration do the job?
How many RBP's will do ok?

Thanks in advance

Luis

any substrate or no substrate , its up to you, i used to keep rbp with gravel. I also used a mag 350, the more filteration, the better, rbp are messy, and i would only do i rbp, 2 at most in a 40g tank. good luck

i would never do any piranha setup with less then 4. if you can't accomidate for that, don't do it. get a bigger tank n try again. rbp's are the biggest wussies around when alone or even only with 1 other. i wouldn't even bother with rbp for only 1 or 2. grab 6 anyway n put them in the 40gal. it will force you to upgrade when you notice they need it.

I´m planning to put black gravel, 200w heater, a canister filter and a single light tube.

Which capacity for the canister filter???

a 350 sounds good...thats more then enough to cycle the tank two times per hour...no more then two in that size tank for sure.

I would get a fluval404 or something like that or even a HOB AC110 would do the job, and i would start out with a 5 pack of babys and let them pick off the two weaker ones, you would be good with 3 in your 40gal for a while before you have to upgrade(at least a year)
