What would you do with a 40g planted tank? I have ghost shrimp that i would like to keep in there too.

1.) 2 kribnesis cichlids with something else

2.) 8 dwarf puffers

3.) 1 ebjd and something else

I would like more ideas the plants i think im definetly want to get are amazon swords, moss balls, and a realy think colony for the baby ghost shrimp to hide in.

Also my planted 20g has 1 moss ball,4 moneywort stems, 1 big red luwigiea (idk how to spell it:banhim:) and a few more plants that idk what they are but not to many its just one species, and they are all doing fine in there

So please tell me what lighting i need for those plants, and what fish you think would be cool and remember they cant be able to wipe out a whole ghost shrimp population and if you havent noticed already im new to plants i have a planted 20g with breeding convicts.

I really like the dwarf puffer idea. BUT puffers are predators and there main prey in the wild is shrimp and snails and other small live organisms.

So they ghost shrimp would become food.

If it were me and I like large stocks on tanks. I would do

10 pea puffers
25 pygmy cory cats
12-16 small tetra's such as neon's, cardinals, brass tetra's, etc

ok im not gonna have any tetras cause i want the puffers to interact with ppl outside of the tank instead of waching the pretty colors of neons and stuff lol. and i dont want 25 corys maybe like 5 emeralds or something. but i want to kno if 10 puffers could kill a ghost shrimp population cause i want to get a thick bunch of plants for ghost shrimp to hide in and would a crawdad be ok in a planted tank?? and do you think i could have any oddball fish in there WITH the puffers?

and i might be able to have like ramshorn with the puffers to give the shrimp a break and i could have like yo yo loaches in there that would kill the snails too.. i really like the idea of like a mostly self contained tank to where i could feed the puffers like once or twice a week with brine shrimp or something like that

I think in the long run, you would have issue keeping shrimp alive with any of the fish you have listed.

If you primarily want to keep shrimp, I would suggest looking into endlers, small tetras, etc. as tank mates.

I agree

And the cory's I was talking about have a max size of 1". They are dwarf's and shoal like no other cory out there. Plus they will sometimes swim mid tank level and eat from the surface.

The emeralds get about as big as a mans thumb. So 5-6 pygmy's are comparable to 1 emerald. And pygmy's have 10x the energy of full grown emeralds. Emeralds can be had at walmart and pygmy's are pretty rare/oddball, to me that adds to there draw.

But its up to you.
