OK so I have a x-large tank and it has a leak on the back bottom edge...already has strips welded in the corners...not sure if I should do silicone...or try welding more pieces in?? Not sure what I should do...any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Man, that is no good. Those tanks aren't cheap.

I'd do like the above said and try to contact an acrylic tank manufacturer to see what they say.

Good luck. I'd try everything I could think of before scrapping it if I were you.

When I called the person who made my 220 when it started to craze he said he could cut the front off, and I would lose 1.5" width. While it would have cost half the price I paid for the the tank, it would have been worth saving. So I would bet they could do the same for you.

Silicone won't work. Your going to need to drain the tank to do it right. Acrylic can be chemically bonded with pieces of acrylic. Draining your tank is a big pain but has to be done. You could do this in a day and fill it back up the next. If you got big fish you can get some big tubs or 55g rubbermaid garbage cans to hold the fish.

No fish in it and its already drained...I think I'm gonna basically cap the bottom...gonna get some 3/8" acrylic and make a bottom piece 3/8" too big and then weld on side piecea 5" high then weld it to the tank all the way around sound ok??
