I also want to add a note for people that have Ultimas. I do a backwash when I’m changing the water every week. But I reread the owners manual and noticed it says to perform a proper backwash, you should back was for 30 seconds, then rinse for 1 minute, then back wash for 30 seconds then rinse for 1 minute, until you don’t see anymore waste come out of the outlet anymore. I had been just putting the filter in backwash and letting it run for about 10 minutes until the water level dropped in the tank to about 50%

Just had our 2nd batch of pups this morning. So far there's 2 in the tank, I don't think there are anymore in the female. These ones are a lot darker than the 1st pup 6 months ago. Hopefully they will live longer than 24 hours with the changes I made to the filtration system.

Here’s a couple better pictures of the pups in the container at the top of the tank now. They haven't ate yet. How long does it typically take pups to start eating? I’ve offered bloodworms and they nibble on them but don’t eat them.

Pretty wild, but a 3rd pup was born today (my daughter named her clover because it’s St. Patrick’s day). So 17 days after the other 2. I’ve never heard of babies from the same litter being born this far apart. All 3 are healthy, which is good.

The one born today is the bottom right one in this picture. Now we have 2 female, 1 male.
