I have a 44g tank that I keep African Chiclids in. Currently it has a hang on power filter that is rated for up to 50-55g, but the water always seems a little cloudy and I frequently have to change filters (i.e. once a week and they are filthy) would switching to a canister type filter be a better option and would it help clear up my water?

hey this is a duplicate thread, could a mod close one of them

also, a canister filter might help clear up your water, but what is your substrate? sand tends to make things cloudy with a powerful filter. i have a 55g filter on my 30g tank and i havent had any cloudiness issues, do a 30% water change and see what happens

Crushed Coral for substrate. Yea I didn't think the thread posted because it was going so slow, so I hit the button again. Guess I just need to be more patient.
