I've got a 45 gallon that is 36" X 12" X 22". It is a community right now with a bunch of fish. Any neat fish that could make this their permanent home? Maybe a pair or a single specimen with great colors and attitude? I'd want them to be able to be their for life.

Thanks if there are any suggestions.

Tall tank. Mix angels up high with something mild on the bottom - rams maybe. Or you could have thorichthys (firemouth, mixteco), cryptoheros (sajica, honduran red points), multispinosa, spinosissimus, keyholes. Using the first idea you could maybe have an angel pair and a ram pair. Otherwise, you're looking at 2-3 fish - 2 if it's a pair, 3 if you're going for small singles (and you're a little lucky).

Right now I've got 2 angels, 2 rams, cardinals, cherry barbs, rubber lip pleco, 1 krib, and a few otos.

I might look into the firemouths though.

Thanks.

mmm i think if you want to still have cardinals later on larger cichlids are out of the question. i think even angels might snack on them. cichlids wise i was going to say that's probably enough for a tank your size...? rams are amazingly aggressive towards small cichlids of their size.

O yea, I know about that. My friend is setting up a 55 and offered to buy my whole setup minus the gravel, heater, and filter. So I might have an empty tank soon. Just looking for some different options.

Thanks.
