Setting Up My 450 Gallon Next Month Was Going To Go Buy Some Heaters This Weekend Was Wondering What Kind Of Heaters I Should Buy And How Many Also How Many Watts Per Heater.
I Was Thinking Like 2 500 Watts.

If Money Is No Object What Is The Best Way To Keep This Tanks Temperature Up. My Tank Is Not Drilled Running 2 FX5's.

Any Help On This Would Be Great.

Thx.

How many watts necessary depends on the ambient temperature of the room. And the rooms temperature range I get away with 2.4 watts per gallon no problem. Ambient temp averages 62-78 tanks temp set to 82

I agree. Go with two 500 watt titanium heaters with a controller. Ranco brand controllers are great. Check out www.jehmco.com.

I use 1 rene smart 300 watt on my 360 , I do have two in the tank but i have never add to switch the 2nd on . Strange i know but my lid dont lose any heat . So i would go with 2 300w smart heaters

I have 450 acrylic. The acrylic is 1.25" thick so that helps keep in a little heat, but the top is open. I use 2 300w and 1 250w heater. Tank sits at 80, house is at 72 at the moment.

I used 1 400 watt and 1 800 watt heater to get my 500 G up to temp. I turned off the 400 watt heater and just used the 800 watt heater after that. The 800 watt heater currently keeps it at a steady 78 F.

Most likely you have an acrylic tank which is a great insulator! I have a 450 also with 3/4 thick acrylic and I use three 300W stealth heaters with no problems keeping the tank at 80. Of course everything depends on the ambient temps of the fish room. If that tank is in the garage over the winter your going to need more heaters :)

If your going to use multiple heaters I think its better to use a temperature controller. Basically you plug all your heaters into the temp controller and it turns the heaters on and off at the same time. That way you can spread your heaters around and get even heating. I have two heaters in my sumps and one in my tank. It works for me!

As stated above, I would opt for twin 500w in either stainless or titanium.
