450g protein skimmer for 500g?

My LFS has this skimmer

but my pond will be 500g though. am trying to keep the bioload really low, i was thinking just brainstorming was thinking 3bamboos, 1 ray(cali), and 2 tangs. is it fine with good filteration? thanks guys.

I would say that bio load will be on the high side. If you're doing a pond and I'm assuming its gonna be outdoor, do an algae scrubber and save the money from the skimmer

going to be inside. am thinking for even better filteration do both and hole bunch of chaeto but a scrubber sounds like to much work to build for this size of a pond?

if i did do one i would want is exacly like this http://www.tcmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12375 but how much bigger would i have to make it , for to have an effect on my tank? i want to put IN the tank and let it drip back into the tank.or maybe have the pump in the tank and let the outake drip into the sump.

Skimmer should always be rated for more than the tank size.

In a tank like that...you probably cant have a skimmer that is too big. My skimmer is for 400g on a 125g.

I would scrub AND run a huge oversized skimmer...I would also probably vodka dose because this is going to be fish only...there is really no reason not to.

vodka dose? whats that? am guessing its a joke but now they have all these waky names for filteration...

You add very pure alcohol to your tank...it boosts your bacteria count and they eat phosphates and nitrates.

Simplest way to put it, not a joke at all.
