G'day
After a bit of a disaster with my tankbusters while I was overseas. Mrs was taking care of them, and lost quite a few of my large fish. I have decided to go back to my fish keeping roots, african cichlids. The longer that time went on and the larger my fish grew the more often thoughts of cruelty would start creeping into my conscious thoughts. Even in relatively larger tanks (8x3x2.5 and 10x2x2). Probably not the best can of worms to open up on monster fish keepers.
Anyway, have set my 8x3 up as a Malawi display tank. Has been running for about 4months now. Started off with tiny 1 - 2" fish now all around the 4 - 5" mark and starting to color up. I have to say I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this tank, a lot of natural behavior.
Have mainly stocked it with large growing 'haps' to keep some sort of monster element. Not overly happy with the aquascape so am going to pull it down and redo the rock work in the next month or so, so will get some full tank shots then.
Stock list so far is:

Enough babbling... time for some pics.
C. moori and Phenochilus "tanzania". The phenos are all males and are just starting to speckle up. These are late bloomers and often don't display their full color potential for 4 - 5 years.
Spilo - these guys are near on impossible to get a decent pic of (very fast). One of the fastest predators I have seen. Can get across the 8' tank in a blink of the eye.
Afra "lions cove" - probably the nastiest fish in the tank at the minute, while all the large haps are still growing.
Afra "lions cove" and elongatus "chewere"
Elongatus "chewere"
Cuckoo catfish
Phenochilus "tanzania"
Electric yellow
Phenochilus "mdoka" - awesome color on these guys, pics do no justice. An electric violet color rather than a normal blue.
Lombardoi - male yellow, female blue
moori
Yo yo loach
Group shot the first day fish were in the tank a few months back
