Here is my little 46 with playsand as a substrate and a Hagen Power-glo T5HO light. What do you think?100_0137.JPG100_0140.JPG100_0151.JPG100_0152.JPG

its nice. Im a big "black" background and i think it would bring out the colors of the fish more. Anyways very cool, i like the light color substrate.

yeah, i am looking to get a background, just haven't gotten to it yet. i don't know what type of algae it is but i am looking at get some shrimp and some ottos to help out with it

The scape looks awesome! Your algae is 'cyanobacteria', not a true algae, and i believe it's toxic if fish eat it. From what I've read, a black out period with no lights, and a thurough siphoning and cleaning of the plants should help get rid of it.

I think Octavusprime was referring to the dark black edges on some of the leaves, which is characteristic if black brush algae. If the edges are black and fuzzy, then that's what you have. Unfortunately, only a few fish actually eat the stuff, otos not being one of them.
