Hello, so i have some questions about stocking my 46 gallon bowfront, here is my current stock
1: Jewel cichlid
1: Firemouth cichlid
1: Convict cichlid
1: Kribensis
7: Buenos Aires Tetras
1: Young 2in True Green Terror Cichlid
1: Bolivian Ram
my father can no longer take care of his 20 gallon and has a opaline gourami and a clown pleco currently in it he asked me if i could take it but the only tank i have big enough for the two is my 46 gallon and i think its already fully stocked or even overstocked, i wanted your guys opinions on if my tank is overstocked i've only been keeping cichlids for about 1-2 years now so i would like some input! Thanks.

Welcome aboard

Yes unfortunately you are over stocked. Don't add anymore fish.

Yes maybe but the current situation i am in right now i cannot get anything larger than what i have, i wasn't expecting to have the GT my mom bought it for me for valentines day, but since i live with my grandma, she doesn't want me to get anything larger, even though i have the money for it. lol, Thanks glad to be apart of the site. i wasn't planning on adding more fish i was just checking my stock, which i was pretty sure that i was over stocked, being as though i wasn't planning on having a fish that could get 8-10 inches lol. Thanks glad to be apart of the site.

I do not consider a 46 gal tank large enough for Green terrors, convicts or fire mouths, at maturity, and I believe in the end, because of lack of territorial space in such a small tank, they will either harass to death or outright kill your kribensis, and ram.
If it were me, I keep the kribs and rams, with tetras in the 46 gal,
and get a 6 ft tank of over 100 gallons for the cons, F.M.s and G.T.s, and probably the jewel.
And just some trivia.
Rams (S American), and kribs (west African) are generally both considered soft water, low mineral water, low pH (preferring 7 or lower) cichlids.
Cons, F.M.s (both Central American prefer harder, mineral rich water pH 7.5 to above 8.
The G.T. is from the alkaline waters of S. America west of the Andes.

Yes but heres the thing as i said before i didn't mean or want it, it was a surprise present from my mother for valentines day. she does not know much about fish, she just saw the GT and how beautiful it is and bought it without asking me if it was ok for my tank, and just to say in case you didn't know i don't have more than one convict or firemouth just one convict and one firemouth which from what i know convicts have been kepts in tanks smaller than 30g, same with firemouths, but i find it crazy that a convict or a firemouth should be in nothing less than 100 gallons. and also the buenos aires tetras are very tough fish and get about 3 inches they have been kept with cichlids many times before and stand in the same spotlight as tiger barbs really. i thank you all for helping me with all the information i usually only keep tetras and other types of cyprinids. and also i never heard or saw where FM's and Con's need that high of a ph most places say their ph should stay between 6-7.5, which my ph stays at 6.9
