About to move my little koi into their new pond and figuring out what I want to do with my 46gal bowfront. Really think puffers would be cool and have a little 2.5 tank underneath it I could try breeding snails in to help keep them fed well. So should I just go with 5-10 Dwarf puffers or should I get a bigger variety? Running a Fluval 405 and another HOB filter. Have a nice piece of driftwood and lots of fake plants.

with a 46G tank you have a few options as far as freshwater puffers go... depends on what your looking for?

If your looking for a few puffers to live together, then the dwarfs are probably your best bet... otherwise there are a few lurker species that might interest you?

Another great option in Monotrete Abei. I absolutely love mine, girlfriend loves him too. Tons of personality, constantly watching me. I can literally wake up in the morning and barely move an arm and he pops out of his log to come take a look at me and say good morning! Wont grow out of that tank, had mine in a 55 for the last 6 months and he almost seemed nervous sometimes. Have him in a perfectly square 30 now and he is much happier it seems. Id recomend the species if you want something swimming around, and are ok with a single species. If you want something less seen, there are a few lurkers like mentioned before which will work.

Perfect tank for a single GSP & maybe a clownfish or a few damselfish.

Thanks for all of the responses. Would really prefer to keep it as simple and cheap to maintain as possible until lim out of school and have more time and money to spend so will probably lean towards freshwater.
