Hello, I'm trying to get back into the hobby, and I'm looking for a tank currently. I'm looking on a budget (Craigslist etc) and plan on doing a sump for filtration. A 60"x24" tank would be sweet but albeit hard to find other than purchasing new. 48" is ideal for the space, which brings me to a 48x24x24 120gallon tall. I was really looking forward to keeping geophagus (sveni, altifrons, winemilleri) larger species. How many could I fit comfortably in that 48x24 footprint? I would love to have 5 or so. I plan on skinny driftwood and sand, with a few smooth flat stones for the habitat.

My other plan would be for geophagus sp. Tapajos, being smaller....but I've kept a colony of those a few years ago, and would like to do something different. Any input would be helpful, thank you!

My vote would go to the orange head tapajos. You can also consider some other smaller species. I intent to do a mirabilis tank in the near future. Similar in size to orange heads but blue.
