Been a long time since I posted but here goes. My 480 Acrylic tank (96x24x48) I bought from Tenecor (now closed) 7 years ago sprang a leak a few months ago. Lost my 30 inch Pacu's in the process that I had for 7 years but that is another thread. The tank was leaking in the front seem very slightly. So drained the tank, cleaned it ect. Got some Acrylic Weld Bond #4 and used a needle to try to re-seal where the tank leaked which seem to work good as it "wiked" into the area nice between the seems. I then let it dry for a week. Today, tried to re-fill the tank but at 80% full it started to just slightly leak out of a pin-hole on the seam but not near as bad.

I really just want to move on and get rid of the tank as I don't have time for it anymore but I am unsure if it can truly be fixed (I thought I had it) and I have no idea what it would be worth if it has this leak. It has the full custom stand, top but separate outside canister filters (FX5's) I guess it could be a good terrarium. New with everything it was close to $10K.

Again, I really just want to get rid of it so wondering what suggestions people may have as to what I could do next. Can I sell it the way it is to someone (obviously telling them it leaks). I am unsure if I can truly fix it.

thanks for all the friendly imput and advice.

I am sure for the right price you could sell it. I guess the question that you have to ask is how much you want to sell it for? IF your willing to just give it away I know someone would take it off of your hands but if you want money for it then it's just a question of finding the right buyer.

Good luck!!

You can reseal it. You just need to use weld 40 not 4. And the joints where you add a thick layer of weld 40 needs to be cleaner really well. Ask wednesday if you have any real big question he will give you some great ideas on it. But really you can get it back up and running easily. Around here a leaking tank would not bring even half what your thinking it might be worth.

Thank you for the replies. I guess I really need to fix it first. I just thought from all I read #4 was what I wanted because it is thinner than water and gets in the seam nice as I saw it do. I obviously am not taking the tank apart so need a solution. I hope someone who has gone threw this can reply.
