Would you be willing to keep 1 full grown Oscar in a tank with this footprint? Just bought one of these 50g's on Glass Cages. I'll either be keeping my Oscar or Texas Cichlid in it.

Any opinions on this would be appreciated.

That is really pushing it for a Oscar. I wouldn't suggest it but if you were to do it you would need heavy filtration and big weekly water changes.

for a oscar and NOTHING else maybe if I had no other options

And how big do u consider a full grown Oscar?

Mine was 14 inches andi have seen a 16 inch one. Though the biggest u usually see is 13-14 inches

it really comes to down to what your using as the filter because a 50g filter would not cut it

After reading up on Texas Cichlid's, they can get up to 12 inches (30cm) and larger in size. Most printed information recommends a tank of 55 gallons or larger for the Texas Cichlid.
Oscars require a tank of 90 gallons or larger. I hope this information helps.

Yeah, I think the Texas would be much more suited for a tank this short. Mine usually spends most of his time around the bottom sifting through sand looking for food and redecorating the tank. Whereas, my Oscar and most Oscar's I've seen spend just as much time at the top of the tank constantly begging for food. Depth and length are perfect for either of them.

Filtration is no problem. 2 AC110's.
