Is there any ray that can be housed in a 48" long x 18" wide footprint space?

this is a easy ? to answer NO

A very big no from me. If you've seen my little p14 who is only 10cm, he uses every cm of his 150 50 60 raising tank.

Bigger is always better, but isn't the issue what is minimum, not what they will use. A platy will use a whole 300 gallon tank but that doesn't mean that is what is needed.

Yeah, but the minimum for a ray is a hell of a lot bigger than a 75 gallon which is what this guy says he has.

I agree 6 foot tanks are the min for any ray.. Keeping any ray in any tank under 6 feet is a waste and is very temporary as in my experience rays grow very fast until about 10 inch disc. Get a 108, or 135 for a grow out tank. Better yet get a 180, you won't be upgrading for a very long time!
