I have just built a 48x42 220 gallon tank now i need to filter it. I was wondering if 2 ac 110 would be good enough for a heavily stocked african tank ?

How tall is it.?

Edit: nevermind you said 220gal.... 2 ac110's prolly wouldn't be enough for a heavily stocked tank.. you'd be better off with 2 fx5's.. or a sump and a fx5, or maybe even a sump and an ac110... or jsut one really large sump.. but to answer your question, no, 2 ac110's will prolly not give you enough filtration

Two Aquaclear 110s would be rated for 220 gallons combined. I've never known any manufacturer to rate their filters for a heavily stocked tank. They usually overestimate the size of aquarium they can filter. I don't think 2 aquaclear 110s would come close to filtering a heavily stocked african cichlid tank. I'd suggest 2 fx5s or a good sump and an fx5.

Exactly what I said...

That wouldn't be enough in my opinion...on my 220 I have a sump/cfs700 canister/AC110 filter. I just like the combination and my tank stays clean with the current stock list in my signature. Doing the weekly water changes will help with any option you go with.

If u already have the AC then use em but add a xp4 rena canister!! You will have beautiful water even with 2 dolphins in it!
