My pump is currently dying in my sump and I'm in need for a new one. The current one doesn't have any writing on it and its hard to determine the gph it is supposed to be pushing versus what its currently pushing. The pump has to send water up roughly 5 feet to the tank and has two inflows. It doesn't seem to have a strong turn over rate as not that much water comes into the sump.

There's a person selling a 5100 gph waterfall pump right now that I am interested in. Would that be to much for the tank?

I know the recommended gph with a good turn over for the 225 would be between 1,350 - 2,250.

maybe so. you could tee off some of the output of the pump back into the sump, though. That would keep the sump water circulating as well as the display tank water. real easy plumbing in the sump to do this, too.

Those are typically power hogs and noise/heat can be a concern as well. That GPH for a 225 is a bit much IMO. I have a 250 gallon at 4K and I have to diffuse the flow via pointing it into a corner. It sounds like you are looking for a submersible pump? If so take a look at Laguna pumps as well as jaebo models. Cheap for the power consumption vs GPH you get.

I run two Jebao DCP 8000's, each at about 55-60%, on my 220. It comes out to about 1600gph total.
+ 1 inpaid $70-80 for my Jebao DCT-6000 and I can't turn it past level 1 on my 75 gallon corner flow or it's too much flow for the overflow. For the money they are some great pumps and I love the 10 minute feed mode that allows me to feed the fish without getting food into the sump. I have two small children in the house so I also like the fact that you can lock the key pad. I unlock the pad, press feed, lock the key pad back while I wait for the back siphon to stop, feed the fish and walk off. The pump ramps back up after 10 minutes and everything is all good!!!!

So, Could I get away with just one of those pumps turned fully on? The sump is a 29 gallon tank and I don't believe I would be able to do 2 pumps in the space provided and honestly I wouldn't want to have to deal with more then one pump. Any reason you do 2 pumps?

I would look at a larger model, like the 12000 or 15000.

What size tank are you running on the 29 gallon sump?
