I'm really into native's and am wondering what should I stock this tank with once its cycled? I already have 2 mosquito fish (male and female) that I got for free from petco's feeder tank. I'm curious on whatelse there is that I've not considered so if you think you know something then post it! (I'm going to heavly plant this tank as well)

Just realized that I have caught central mud minnows where I live, I might get some of them :)

your title is confusing me do you mean 55 gallons or 5.5 gallons..if 5.5 um stick to minnows..

Mosquitofish are fin-nippers. Don't keep anything else with them. If you get rid of them, you could keep pygmy sunfish (Elassoma sp.) and/or some of the small native livebearers and killies, such as Heterandria formosa, Leptolucania ommata, and Lucania sp. Small, still-water darters such as Etheostoma edwini, E. gracile, or E. fusiforme would also work. That's about it. Mudminnows need a larger tank- I wouldn't keep them in less than a 20 gallon tank. True minnows need more room too, even the small species.

Alternatively, you could set up it as an invert tank with native snails, shrimps, or dwarf crayfish.
