Hey guys, I have a 5 gallon tank and have a little trouble with keeping the Ammonia levels down. Any suggestions. I have 7 small silver mollies in there. I'm performing water changes about once a week and ammonia stays between 1 and 3. What can I do to help this problem?

1)Do you have a filter in there if not get a small one possibly air driven.
2)that is overstocked as the mollys would breed rapidly and overstock it even more, reduce mollys to 5 and get rid of any offspring.
3)How much water are you changing a week on a tank that size i would recomend 50%
4)in my experiance the tetra nitrate minus reduces nitride and ammonia as well.

The tank was set up 3 months ago. Ammonia was down to zero for awhile but has recently been increasing. Not sure from what though.

you should try a small filter, you can get little ones for less than $20 online. Try amazon or even petco.

i agree with nick
filters are cheap and definitley
worth it try petsmart

Have you vacumed the gravel to get all of the crap out? Seems like you have waste you arn't removing with the water changes. How recently have you changed/washed the filter pad?
