I HAVE A 5 GALLON TANK want to set it up for a breeder tank. i have an aqua clear 20 in it and some java moss right now but thats it. just want to no what the best paramaters are. i have a 75 with piranha in it so i wanteed to start a feeder tank

It would be very hard to breed anything in a 5 gallon tank. But if you want to try it either go with guppies, which I know some about, or maybe ghost shrimp, which I dont know anything about.

If you did guppies, you would only want 1 male and 2 females. You are going to have to do water changes every couple days once you get babies. In a tank that small it is going to be very difficult. Personally, if you want to breed anything get another tank, get a 10 gallon. With the 5 gallon tank and a 10 you can breed guppies much easier.

yeah man you aint going to breed anything in that tank. if you get another tank like a 30 maybe you can breed convicts which would be better for you Ps

You can use it as a birthing tank for livebearers. If you have a pregnant fish just put her in by herself until the day comes. Then remove here and use it to grow out the fry. As the fry grow, they will quickly over populate the tank. Keep the bottom bare so they can find uneaten food.

For any breeding project, you will need a sex tank for adults, a birthing tank, and several grow out tanks. To make it sustainable, you will need many growout tanks because your P's will eat them faster than the feeders will grow. Expect around three to four months for each batch of fry to grow to eating size.

It's a pretty small tank and guppies would be the only thing that I can think of that would be small enough to breed in there.
