How long is this fish ok in this tank? Also what shouldi do for decorations in this tank?

I just bought him today.
Thanks

maybe another inch or so. manuelli's can get quite large, so id go with a 110 or more and just get it over with.

as for decorations I use alot of driftwood, amazon swords, java fern, anubias, assorted other plants. Give him a good place to hide.

Tank is 36l x 16w x 20h

My last p in my office (Geryi) just hid behind a log so I took all the logs out of this one but judging by me severly crappy cell phone pic (attached) I am also looking for some suggestions on decor.

Does the fish look cramped in this tank?

5 inch piranha cramped in an empty 36l x 16w x 20h? no, it doesn't look cramped, tank just looks......bare

it'll last in there for a long time, is 16" the width of the mid section or both ends? I'm guessing it's the mid section and both ends are 12"?
I had my 7-8" manueli in a 40 breeder, 36x18x16 and it was fine. for your tank if it start to hit 8" or bigger then may want to give it a tank that's wider, 75g will be good. but bigger is always better if it's an active fish.

Thanks for the "real" answer. I have been advised I need a 150 gallon now and not that I didnt believe this, but I found it hard to believe this guy needed that big of a tank at this size.

Any help with what to decorate it with would be appreciated as well. Live plants??

a bigger tank is always better, more water volume = better water quality (more tolerant to nitrate build up ect.) = better health/growth, etc and manueli is one of the most delicate piranhas so you want to keep water as clean as possible.

you don't NEED it now but if you can provide one it'll be better in the long run and you don't have to upgrade again and again, etc.

with a bigger tank you also get more space to decorate the tank to make it more appealing.

here's a video of one of the best manueli I have seen and it's in a 250 gallon tank with 3D background and live plants. the owner had it for more than 6 years and it grew from couple inches to this monster size.

this is my mannies tank. . he's in a juwel vision 450. . i think thats like 120 us gallons. .dont give him anywhere he can hide away completely. . you will never see him. . mine spent a whole year under the juwel internal filter until i decided to rip it out .. now he's much much more active and aggressive.. . his bottom fin is quite short because he spent so much time under the filter and the gravel buffed it
