i have a quick ? my electric yellow cichlid's face is black almost like he has a 5 o'clock shadow goin on, so i was just wondering why he's like this? he's been like that since a few days after we got him about 4-5 months ago. thanks for the help.

Ok so most yellow labs (well even F1's) will get black sometimes, ie it looks like they have a dirty mouth (black), but not nearly close to the amount that guy has... That said I honestly and sorry to say that that fish is a hybrid (there are a bunch more signs than just the face)...
That is I am assuming that you are saying that the fish is an Labidochromis caeruleus.
