5' Manzanita driftwood finally cured, took 2 months submerged in my koi pond with a huge rock on top to keep it down. Turned to pond water dark brown within 1 day. After 2 months of pond water changes every 3 days, the water still brown but lightened significately and the driftwood was soaked.

Boiling this piece would be difficult so instead I placed the woob in the bath tub, turned up the temp on the water heater and filled up the tub. The first 24 hour soak leeched a light brown water, 2nd 24 hour soak a light brown water, 3rd soak produced a beige color water.

WaaLaa...8' long 240g tank with a 5' piece of driftwood. Soon to add more plants. This photo really doesnt do this huge driftwood any justice...believe me

Sea Chem Purigen will suck tannins out like no tomorrow. I haven't pre-cured wood since I found it.

I used Sea Chem Purigen on another monster-size piece of driftwood. The pure white Sea Chem Purigen beads turned dark brown in 1 day. by the time you re-activate the beads your tank is dark brown again. repeat the process...blah blah blah. I cant stand my tank lookin like an inop toilet bowl.

Sea Chem Purigen works great for small pieces. Monster-size driftwood is exactly that...a monster to cure
