Hello,
Im very new to this website (as of 5 minutes ago) and I've been trying to get some advice. The people at my LFS are quite arrogant, and have sold me over 8 diseased fish over the course of a couple months. (Refusing to honor their 30 day fish back gauruntee, so I blew about 180$ on dead fish.) so I get to re-stock my tank. Its a shame they are the only pet store that sells cichlids where I am.
At this time, I have a super healthy Golden Sevrum (about 6-7 inches) A firemouth (about 2-3 inches) and a couple Siamese algae eaters. (no larger then 5" each)
Im wondering if 50 gallons will be enough for both to get along as adults, (More worried about the firemouth as they can be abit nippy with long fins) I have a 55 gallon canister filter, and they get weekly large water changes. any suggestions for schooling fish/other cichlids that stay on the smaller side and would be able to co exist?
Thoughts/comments/suggestions are all appricated ! (personally i've been eyeing the blue acaras and the only person at the LFS that actually cares about the animals said she would order them in for me if she found them online) Also any alternative bottom feeder suggestions as ive heard siamese algae eaters have a habit of turning agressive on other fish. Would that be a problem in a moderatly aggresive fish tank?
thanks
-Steven
