I can at last join the ranks of the monster fish keepers!
Erm, Monster Aquarium Owners! No fish for this one yet.
This year my husband just finished building my 125gal metal framed aquarium. We picked it up cheap - an old labtank from a local university - and spent hours grinding off the old paint, building a frame, setting it up and stocking it.

But last night... we moved in the new tank. A gift from a friend who works in film production. This -beast- is amazing.
Metal framed, once again. And from rough count (it's in a friend's backyard still) 6'long 5.5' tall and 3' deep. 5/8" glass. So, if I'm counting right, thats over 650 gallons. Now. It may be 5.5' long. But still, I think I'm now in Monster realms.

Now - I get to spend the next few months plotting stock.
Right off the bat - 550gal, what would you stock?

(pictures soon... when it stops raining)

:WHOA: That's one seriously tall tank! I'm curious to see pictures of this beast.

I agree. A saltwater tank would be really cool. Discus with plants would also be crazy awesome, although it would need some insane lighting. Its a lot of water, but not much surface area, so you can't go insane with the fish. Mixed CA cichlids would also be nice.

Sweet tank! What type of fish do you like? Peaceful, saltwater, or aggressive?

Or, you could go with 1000 neon tetras!!!!

u could do a neat reef tank with achille's tangs, yellow tangs, purple tangs, damselfish and the like.

or, u could a pretty cool fw tank with a silver aro and sum cichlids

just my 2 cents.

let's see some pics of that monster!

So this is what she looks like, roughly. Ignore is measurements, I haven't actually broken out the tape measure yet. It's in another friends parking spot now.
This was built for a movie - I have to find out which - and they had bodies floating in it. Heh. It had a twin at one point!

Yeah, this is -not- going to be planted. I'm still paying off the lighting for my 125planted tank.
Maybe something with mangroves. I was thinking about forming the root system - based on carved blue foam. Or something large like that. Half a car?

Salt would be amazing, but I'm more of a fresh water girl.
Cichlids will probably be the fish of choice - but I don't know if I'm going to put a lid on this.... so an arowana would be out. (Pun intended)
