Hello everyone :)

I'm currently researching everything before diving into my 500 gallon project. I figure it's going to take me a century and a half before it gets done, but I don't mind the wait so long as the results are satisfying. :D However, since this tank is significantly larger than any others I've had in the past, I'd like some help regarding filtration. What would you guys suggest? The stock list is still being worked upon right now but the main point of this tank is to keep one (not more than that...its gotta be the star of the tank :P) silver arowana. Some other fish I'm considering:

Oscars
Motoro stingrays
Rotkeils
flagtail prochilodus
tinfoil barbs
giant gourami (gold)
clown knife

I'm still researching and figuring out exactly what I want, but in the meantime, can anybody offer some advice? :)

you have tons of routes to go.. technically the best would be either sump or duel canisters cause from what i know 1 ussually isnt enough..... look up the FX5 and Eheim has quite a few... but to be honest my own personal opinion id run a sump......

I'm setting up a 500 g tank as well.. I'm going to run a sump setup on mine to get the turnover ratio up, looking for at least 2600 gph...I was going to plumb a 2262 into the sump as well however the jury is still out...Since my filter will be in the next room where noise won't be much of an issue ...look into some of the modified bakki shower systems that are showing up in large tanks...
