Looking to build an all glass 8' x 3' x 3'. I've built a mostly glass 420 gallon tank before that had glass sides with a plywood bottom. It worked great, but was wondering if you knew of any other tank builds I could look at to help my decision process.

I'm able to buy glass in any size at cost so figured this would be an affordable way to get the exact size I want. I plan to use 3/4" think low iron glass. For something this big, how should I do the bracing for top and bottom? Is it necessary? I want to build rock solid tank.

You will get more results in the diy section, Backfromthedead Backfromthedead is building a glass tank now you should look at his build.

Tall long tank, even with 3/4" you'll need some bracing.

"Rock solid" would be a full rim eurobrace with at least two crossbraces. 1/2" glass minimum.

To be functional you could get away with less, maybe just one larger crossbrace across the middle of the tank.

My current build is 72x48x27 and will have two crossbraces 48"x8"x1/2" covering the ends. The middle section will essentially be 56"x48"x27" with no bracing. Not a typical setup but my builds are invariably built purely for function.
