I have been researching endlessly on this and have decide to plan and (eventually) go through with the project. My plan is to build an indoor turtle pond which will be 4'x4'x8' (DxHxW), however, The actual pond size will be 4x4x6' because I plan on having the filtration and basking/egg laying area included in this feature (as you can see from the photos below). I've been researching the idea for the last 8 months which have consisted of over 100 videos, a million doubts and about a million questions (I like to know what is best).
It doesn't reflect in the pictures, but I would like to include a glass viewing front on the build (and this is where I got stuck) because I am not really sure which is the best way to approach this. I have researched many possibilities but can't come up with a decision. I know there is risk of leakage (as with any tank) but I do not have any experience in working with Liners, Rubber sealants, fiberglass, or even Drylock (other than the normal use of sealing concrete).
Please let me know what you think of the concept design of the pond. In the design I chose to design it with the horixontal/going vertical supports because i have seen many designs with such and with my background in architecture and construction that i feel real good about the strength. I am currently working on another design with straight vertical supports as one would see in a typical wall construction.
I plan to use a pressurized pond filter that will allow me to clean the filter without breaking the seal. Also (it doesn't show on the pictures) but to display the pond nicely i will have plenty of lighting, but more importantly, i plan to have removable glass pieces to go from the top and up about 8 inches (so they can't escape but more because the location of it, my min pins will be able to jump in, and I can't definitely have that).
Again, please let me know what you think...I am ready for any advice!
