Just wondering if a 500 Watt heater is enough to heat a 350 Gallon tank, I live in a tropical country but its typhoon season, I'm trying to maintain 28 Degrees celsius, just wondering if a 500 watt heater will be able to do this? Its currently placed in my sump tank.

I WOULD GO HIGER OR PUT 2 OF THEM

Yes, 500w is fine. I have less than that on my 375, and it's stable. I would consider adding another for winter. Fish are not as sensitive to these changes as one might think.

IF it is cold the you may have to add another But I would wait and see how that one does. The only drawback is if that one breaks you will need to hurry and get a replacement.

I have 600 on my 180 gallon but only to use one as a back up. I don't even think I need 300 to be honest. Bigger tanks take way longer to heat up or cool down which makes them more efficient heating wise. I would get two heaters just in case one fails and to split up the work when temperatures drop.

Thanks :) My 500 watts seem to be doing its job, I think coldest out tank gets here without heater is only 25 Degrees.

In SW Florida, I have a 300 on my 125. I don't think I've ever seen it turn on. In my house I keep the air conditioner at 75F (23c). I have never seen my tank go below 80F (26.5c). My cold tap water this time of year is 81F(27c)!
